Covid Cleaning Practices

Following the Covid-19 lockdown, Osceola County, Orlando approved the re-opening of vacation rentals on May 20, 2020 (woo-hoo!). We want to assure everyone that the health and safety of our staff and guests is paramount. Management at all our resorts is diligently following the guidelines laid down by Osceola County and the CDC.

Property owners and managers must adopt the latest guidelines for cleaning, disinfecting and sanitization of all lodging. These include the following points and are subject to change:

Updated Information for Guests

Properties must provide Covid-19 guidance regarding local restrictions including any social distancing, curfews and closures that are in place during the guest stay.

Group Gatherings

Vacation rentals cannot be used to host events and gatherings that exceed maximum occupancy.

Covid Symptoms

Employees exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 shall remain or return home. While at work, employees who notice a coworker or guest exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 shall immediately contact a manager. At a minimum, the resort shall follow CDC guidelines including self-isolation for the required amount of time, as defined by the CDC, from the onset of symptoms.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 shall be immediately reported to local health authorities in accordance with appropriate actions recommended by the CDC.

Hand Sanitizing

CDC guidelines shall govern the duty of all employees to engage in frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. Washing hands with soap and water is the preferable method. In situations where soap/water is not available, alcohol-based sanitizer is recommended. Hand sanitizer dispensers shall include no less than 60% alcohol content, where available, and touchless where possible. As available,

dispensers shall be placed at key guest and employee entrances and contact areas.

Mask Reminders

During all times in which the usage of masks is recommended by the CDC and/or other local health authorities, health and hygiene reminders shall be placed at high-traffic areas on property, including the front lobby area.

Public Spaces

Cleaning and disinfecting shall be frequent (multiple times per day) with an emphasis on frequent contact with hard non-porous surfaces including, but not limited to, front desk check-in counters, bell desks, elevators and elevator buttons, door handles, public bathrooms, vending machines, ice machines, room keys and locks, ATMs, escalator and stair handrails, gym equipment, pool seating and surrounding areas, dining surfaces and all seating areas.

Food and Drink Service

Food and beverage service must reduce in-person contact with guests and buffet service and also minimize dining items for increased sanitation.

Physical Distancing & Queuing

Guests shall be advised to practice physical distancing by standing at least six feet away from other groups of people not traveling with them, including any area where guests or employees queue. Such areas shall be clearly marked for appropriate physical distancing, and where possible, encourage one-way guest flow with marked entrances and exits. When applicable, lobby furniture and other public seating areas will be reconfigured to promote social distancing.

Vacation rentals must comply with the SAFEHOME cleaning guidelines:

All staff (housekeepers, inspectors, maintenance technicians, or anyone else) should wear masks and disposable gloves.

Gloves should be changed between properties and also between certain in-property tasks. Hands should be washed as soon as possible after gloves are removed.

Properly dispose of gloves and use hand sanitizer when finished and BEFORE entering your vehicle and especially before touching the steering wheel.

All field staff should continue proper hand washing protocols throughout the day and should avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

Properly dispose of gloves and use hand sanitizer when finished and BEFORE entering your vehicle and especially before touching the steering wheel.

Extra cleaning time should be allocated to existing turnover timeframes. The two major factors in how much time is needed are:

  • The amount of time required to sanitize/disinfect high-touch areas that may not have previously been rigorously cleaned on every turn.
  • Allowing a certain amount of time for the nebulized virus particles to settle out of the air.

As per the most recent guidance, it can take up to 3 hours for larger COVID-19 particles to fully settle to the ground. Waiting longer is likely the safest course of action and 24 hours between the last exit and next entry is reasonable.

All field staff should continue proper hand washing protocols throughout the day and should avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

As part of the guest departure duties, if guests can be asked to turn on all ceiling fans and/or HVAC fans, that would be ideal. When the cleaner or inspector arrives, they can open a few windows to air property out if fan use is not possible. Make sure windows are closed when staff leave the property.

Note that these additional cleaning and wait times may make it impossible to allow early check-ins or late check-outs.

Linens and bedding should not be shaken, so as not to disperse viral particulates into the air. Linens and bedding should be professionally laundered, at the correct temperatures and with the correct chemical chemistry for proper cleaning and sanitization. VRHP/VRMA recommends that all extra throw blankets, decorative pillows, or other soft objects should be boxed or bagged up and put away until further notice.

Nothing like I ever experienced before!
This property was absolutely gorgeous! Everything was perfect and clean. We enjoyed the house so much that we didn’t even bother to go to the water park in the community. The backyard and pool is breathtaking! I will definitely book again in the future.

Beautiful property
We had a great time. The house is beautiful with everything we needed for our stay. I only recommend putting a blind in the front door for privacy.

It was a fun time for all ages. Our family just wanted to have a getaway vacation this summer, especially during these trying times. The Property Manager was fabulous! Very quick responses, via email, whenever I had a question. Thanks for everything!!

We enjoyed our stay! The check-in process was excellent. The property was clean. It could use a little dusting in hidden spaces. The resort pool was a gem! We had one issue with oven- circuit kept overheating and oven would shut down but maintenance did come the same night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
