Who a 3 bedroom vacation rental suits
A three bedroom vacation rental is the natural size for one family: parents in the main bedroom, children sharing or splitting the other two, and a living room that is still free once they are asleep. It also works for two couples, or for parents travelling with a grandparent who would rather have a door of their own than a sofa bed.
Against a hotel, the comparison is two rooms, and usually two rooms that are not next to each other. Here everyone is under one roof with a full kitchen and a laundry, which matters more by the fourth day of a Disney trip than it sounds when you book. If you are six or more adults, a four bedroom home is usually the more comfortable fit.
Townhome, condo or pool home: what to check
- Pool. Some three bedroom homes have a private pool and some use the resort pool instead. Each listing says which, and it is the biggest single difference between two homes of the same size.
- Stairs. Townhomes put the bedrooms upstairs and condos can be on an upper floor, so ask us before you book if anyone in the group needs step-free access.
- Beds, not bedrooms. The sleeps figure counts sofa beds, so check that the bed types suit who is actually coming: two twins for children, or a second king or queen for another couple.
- The resort. Waterslides, a lazy river, golf and on-site dining vary by community, and each resort page lists what is inside the gates and how far it is from the parks.
- Pool heating. It is an optional extra on private pools, and worth adding between roughly November and March.
