Downtown Disney

  • If you’re staying in a vacation home in Orlando, you’ll want to visit Disney World! It’s officially the state’s most famous attraction and offers guests of all ages a magical day out. Meet some of your favorite characters from the films, jump on the rollercoasters and other exhilarating rides, or relax and watch one of the many shows that Disney is so famous for. Whatever time of year you choose to enjoy your vacation in Orlando, you’ll find Disney World a truly unforgettable experience.

Dining at Disney World

  • When it comes to eating at Disney World, there’s a wealth of choice available. There are plenty of buffet-style restaurants in all the Disney theme parks, plus more casual dining options, such as cafes, fast-food outlets and food trucks. Disney World often hosts a range of dinner shows and dining events. For full details about what’s on when you’re staying at one of our vacation rentals in Orlando, simply visit the official Disney site.

Top Tips

Here’s a few great tips to get the best from your Disney World experience:

  • Be prepared for walking. The Disney attractions are big, and you’ll be on your feet a lot!
  • Aim for mid-week for the Magic Kingdom. Saturdays can be particularly busy.
  • If you want to go to a restaurant for a special occasion. especially if you’re travelling as a big group, make sure you book beforehand.
  • Rather than queuing for hours to meet a Disney character. go to a character meal instead. You can sit down and relax, and your children can meet the characters without waiting ages to do so.
  • If you’ve seen the parades already, use parade times to get on those rides – queues are always shorter at these times!

The Best Rides at Disney World

Not sure which ride to head to first? Here’s a quick guide to our personal favorites.

  • Splash Mountain. It’s one of Disney’s most famous rides, and deservedly so! It’s not one of the most terrifying, but this log-flume meets animatronics ride is always worth experiencing.
  • Mission: SPACE. Head to Disney’s Epcot for this amazing ride, which simulates space travel. It’s a must for any budding astronauts.
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this one isn’t for the fainthearted. Plummeting lifts, ghostly goings on and all sorts of thrills await you!
  • Star Wars… The Adventures Continue. If you’ve got a Star Wars fan in your midst, this is simply unmissable. It’s a simulation ride, designed to take you to a galaxy far, far away…
  • Expedition Everest.Ever been on a rollercoaster? In the dark? Going backwards? Well, jump on Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and you’ll do just that. Good luck…

How to Get There:

  • All Disney theme parks are well signposted. Parking is available at Disney World,  Standard parking for cars and motorcycles is $22 per day and preferred parking is $45 per day. Preferred parking is an allotment of parking spaces that are closer to the front gate of the park.

A Definite Great Place to Stay Close to Disney
This Windsor Hills House is a great place for 8 adults & 4 kids. The kids loved the Star Wars game room. The adults loved the open kitchen and family room to socialize. Everyone enjoyed not only the backyard pool but the free access to the resort with water slides. Great Family Place close to Disney and many restaurants.
