Exploring Universal's Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure arranges its rides around a central lagoon, with each themed island feeling like its own self-contained world rather than a stop on a map. Marvel Super Hero Island, Jurassic Park and the snowy rooftops of Hogsmeade all sit within a short walk of one another, but the shift in scenery between them is total.

It's the thrill-seeker's half of Universal Orlando Resort, packed with story-driven coasters and splashy log flumes, and it's roughly 20–25 minutes from our vacation homes. The other half is Universal Studios Florida, and the Volcano Bay water park sits alongside both.

Coaster days are long ones, so groups tend to want space to recover: seven bedroom villas for a group trip or thirteen bedroom homes near the parks put a private pool at the end of them.

Seven themed islands ring the park's central lagoon, each with a distinct look and pace:

Marvel Super Hero Island — Spider-Man swings overhead while the Incredible Hulk Coaster launches below.

Planning an Epic Visit

Start with Hagrid's ride — it draws long lines fast, so head there right at opening.

Park-to-Park pays off — it's required to ride the Hogwarts Express between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

Pack a poncho or spare clothes — the water rides here are properly splashy.

Use Child Swap — handy for families with little ones who can't ride certain attractions.

Cool off indoors — Seuss Landing and Marvel Super Hero Island both offer shaded, air-conditioned breaks.
