The high-energy one
The resort built for teenagers
Solara Resort has the amenity list that wins over older kids: a FlowRider double surf simulator, a wave pool, an eSports and gaming lounge, a bar and grill, and a full sports complex with soccer, volleyball and a fitness studio. Everything sits around one large modern clubhouse.
The homes match — mostly built from 2018 onward, open-plan, with games rooms, summer kitchens and screened south-facing pools. Sizes run from four-bedroom townhomes to ten-bedroom villas.

What is on site at Solara Resort
What is actually on site
Solara's distinguishing feature is the FlowRider — a wave simulator you can actually surf, with instructors on site. It is genuinely unusual for an Orlando rental community, and it is the reason a certain kind of teenager will pick Solara over anywhere else. One important caveat that no listing seems to mention: it carries a fee, and sessions are booked in advance rather than walked up to.
Around it sits a water complex with a heated zero-entry pool, children's interactive waterslides and a splash pad, and a pool bar and grill. The clubhouse is two storeys and holds a bar and grill, an ice cream parlour, a coffee and gelato café, a sundries store, a fitness centre and a hangout space aimed at tweens and teenagers. Outside there is a basketball court, a beach volleyball court, a full-size soccer field, a children's playground and an outdoor fitness lawn. Our homes here run four to nine bedrooms — see our 9 bedroom vacation homes for the top of that range.

Solara Resort questions we're asked most
Is the FlowRider included?
Sessions are included for resort guests during posted hours; at busy times they run on a sign-up sheet at the clubhouse. Bring water shoes.
Is Solara good for teenagers?
It's the one we recommend most for thirteen-plus. Surf simulator, eSports lounge, sports complex and a grill they can walk to without you.
How new are the homes?
The community began building in 2017, so nearly all of our Solara homes are seven years old or newer, with contemporary interiors and current pool equipment.
Are there smaller homes here too?
Yes — four and five-bedroom townhomes with private splash pools sit alongside the big villas, so smaller parties still get the full amenity list.
Is the FlowRider at Solara Resort free?
No — this is the thing most guests get wrong. The FlowRider surf simulator carries a fee and sessions should be booked around 24 hours in advance. The resort sells day passes, week passes and hour-long private sessions for groups of up to eight, with instructors on hand.
What is a FlowRider?
A wave simulator that produces a continuous sheet of water you can surf or bodyboard on. Solara has one on site with a team of instructors, so complete beginners and experienced surfers can both use it. It is rare for an Orlando vacation rental community to have one at all.
How far is Solara Resort from Disney World?
About eight miles, usually around fifteen minutes by car. Solara sits on the US-192 corridor in Kissimmee, and the resort itself quotes eight miles to Walt Disney World. Every home we manage has free parking, and driving is how most guests reach the parks.
Does Solara Resort have a pool?
Yes — a heated zero-entry resort pool as the centrepiece of the water complex, with children's interactive waterslides, a splash pad, private cabanas and a pool bar and grill. Unlike the FlowRider, the pool comes with the stay.
Is there anything for teenagers at Solara Resort?
More than most resorts. There is a dedicated tween and teen hangout space in the clubhouse, plus the FlowRider, a full-size soccer field, basketball and beach volleyball. The 13-to-17 age group is the one Orlando resorts usually forget, and Solara does not.
Are there restaurants at Solara Resort?
The clubhouse has a bar and grill, an ice cream parlour and a coffee and gelato café, and there is a separate pool bar and grill by the water. A sundries store covers essentials, but for a full grocery shop the nearest Publix is a couple of miles away.
What size homes are at Solara Resort?
Our Solara homes run from four to nine bedrooms, which places the resort in the mid-to-large band. Many are recent builds, so finishes tend to be more contemporary than the older Kissimmee communities. The live counts on this page show what is available now.
What sports facilities does Solara Resort have?
A full-size soccer field, a basketball court, a beach volleyball court, an outdoor fitness lawn for yoga or classes, and an indoor fitness centre with treadmills and equipment. There is a children's playground as well for the younger end.
Is Solara Resort a gated community?
Yes. Your party's name goes on the gate list before you arrive, which we arrange when your booking is confirmed, so there is nothing to organise at the gate when you land after a long flight.
Who runs the amenities at Solara Resort?
The resort does, not us. That matters because hours, pricing and availability — particularly for the FlowRider and the cabanas — are set by the resort and can change without notice. Check at the clubhouse on arrival if something is central to your plans.
